Georgian Festival is an annual event that takes place in Armagh, Northern Ireland which celebrates the town’s Georgian heritage. One of the highlights of the event is a projection mapping show in the market square which attracts thousands of people over two days. For the 2024 event the client wanted a 10-15 minute show with the theme ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’.

In previous years there was a story that spanned the whole show accompanied by a voiceover track. For the 2024 version the client wanted to simplify this and make more use of the building structure, so I developed an idea where I would create various looks based on elements associated with Christmas. These would all be tied together by a Christmas Calendar, with different windows opening to reveal the various scenes. Three Elf characters were also developed to add some action and humour in each scene.

The animation was a combination of 2D and 3D elements and the show was complimented by light beams on top of the physical building.
